A hardy "get well soon" to Sy Liebergot who suffered a burst appendix and had surgery at 2:30 a.m. yesterday. His wife, Craig, has told me that he's on the mend and hopes to be back online soon.

I think that his day off should be noted and that he should get back to work asap!

Cheerz!

My 21 year young nephew was having appendix pain the same night an hour earlier. Wasn't cut open until 12:30 p.m.

Good recovery, sir. No bending for awhile.

I've read your book (and had the pleasure of speaking with you), so I know this isn't the toughest curveball life has thrown to you, Sy. My thoughts and prayers will be added to the many others stated and unstated in this thread, and I hope very much to be able to share a word or two with you in the future. Here's hoping for a comfortable and speedy recovery.

Wow, what a caring group!I was nearly overwhelmed by all the well wishes (but being a 'steely eyed missile man.' I managed to keep my composure). Nice to realize that I have managed to meet many of you, from the States and around the world. I'm pretty tired with a very sore abdomen. So correct that I am limiting my situps and pushups. Amazing that women endure this pain to give birth to our children.
Sincerely,
Sy Liebergot

As I have noticed on many an occasion in Mission Control (in videos of course) there is no shame to being a "teary eyed missile man" either... eh?

WHOA! Don't let my wife hear you say that or she'll throw you out the window. According to her, NOTHING men endure is like pain from childbirth, even appendicits (she has done both!)

Two words: Kidney Stone.

Imagine an hour-long, unbearable "ice-cream headache in the lower back" and you'll get the idea.

Great to hear from you so quickly, Sy. Wishing you an quick recovery!

Scott, I won't argue with you on that one. It is the evil, wretched snake woman... I mean my wife that is hard to convince.

Sy - good to see you back and on the computer so quickly. Did they let you keep the appendix in a jar?

A famous comedian once said that "If you wanted an idea of what childbirth felt like, grab your lower lip and pull it up over your head" That man was Bill Cosby

A friend I used to work with used to talk about how a stinger--the sting in your hands that you get when you hit a baseball just wrong--was the worst pain on Earth--WAY worse than labor. You can imagine how that got the women going! Way to go, Pit Bull, my friend!

Also, back to the subject at hand, it's sure good to hear from you, Sy.

I only wish that my kidney stone were so merciful. Even the Percoset didn't help. It didn't stop the pain. It just let me sleep through it.

Get well Sy!

Oh, no joke. That was a smart thing for him to say - not. LOL. I'll bet if one of those ladies had a bat handy that his head soon met its sweet spot.

Sy,

I wish you a speedy recovery! I've been getting chill bumps just thinking about the possibility of taking a photo of you in the actual room at your console where you were during the Apollo 13 CSM tank explosion. I can't believe that this might really be possible next summer as a prelude for the next UACC show in San Antonio.

Best,
Bruce
