Regarding this Apollo 17 prime, backup, and support crew photo. Real or fake facial hair (or retouched photo)? Taken before or after Apollo 17 flew? |

I know Young's mustache was real as he's seen sporting it in the "Apollo 17: On the Shoulders of Giants" NASA film. Roosa's looks real. The others are fake in my opinion. |

Is it something to do with Ronald Evans' moustache? None of the Apollo flights that had an astronaut flown with moustache. I'm not sure... |

Collins returned with one. He had it in MQF but I wonder if there are any pictures of him with it in the CM prior to splashdown/recovery? |

I think the backup crew looks good — especially Stu Roosa. So the prime crew donned fake as a joke? |

Following is another photo taken the same day in the KSC Crew Training Building. I tried to find out who instigated the prank. Charlie Duke said that it was Stu Roosa's idea but did not reveal Roosa's motive. |

Backup crew looks real. Prime looks fake — especially Cernan. Danny just looks like he didn't shave the day before. Great pic. Thank you!! |
