Thanks, Larry, for a wonderful story about a remarkable lady. I, also, had the pleasure of meeting Cece at the Burbank show. In fact, Dee O'Hara introduced me to her, and I had the pleasure of being there while the two caught up on some reminiscing. What a kick that was! As much as we study and read about the people who were involved in those early days at the Cape, we can mostly only imagine what a bunch of characters they really were. It must have been an incredible time and place--something that will never happen again. |

Larry, excellent work! Your piece is an informative and touching tribute to Cece. As I mentioned earlier, you should make the tribute a chapter in the book that you will eventually write. |

Larry, a great tribute to a wonderful gal. You have blessed us with your story, even as Cece blessed you with hers, and her friendship. You two were quite the pair.I will never forget being the fly on the wall at Burbank when Cece and Scott Carpenter sat down to reacquaint after 30 years. Thanks for insisting. For as long as the spacecraft she painted are with us, so is her wonderful art, together, as one. Cece has achieved near imortality, touching many along her path to that lofty space. What a gift she has given us all. |

Cece, it was great meeting you in San Antonio and I really hope you had a wonderful birthday and I hope you have a fantastic year. — Mike MyerCece, I'm really happy I got to meet you in San Antonio with my dad on my birthday. You made it really special. I went there as a 12 year old and excited to be in a whole different state for my b-day. And I left as a 13 year old that has a new friend, and can't wait to tell everyone about you. — Miranda Myer |

How does she pronounce the name "Cece" and what is it short for? Cecilia? |

Short for Cecelia, Cece is pronounced as "see see". For our beach lovers and Navy friends, that would be "sea sea". Our Hispanic friends might prefer "Si Si". |

Also, thanks for posting the link to that fantastic story that Larry McGlynn wrote about Cece. I'd forgotten about that. I know that Larry is one of Cece's most cherished friends, as she speaks of him often. |

I did talk to Cece yesterday. Her friends were over for a birthday party. John Glenn called to wish her a happy birthday. She received many cards, no doubt from Bruce's generous offer to send our cards to Cece. She is doing well. She sounded very good. She also thanks everybody for the happy birthday wishes. |

That's great news Larry about John Glenn calling Cece on her birthday and the 47th anniversary of his Mercury flight!Cece wanted me to thank everyone who sent her birthday cards. She was thrilled that so many people thought of her. Cece especially liked Miranda Myer's card and she said she remembered Miranda and her dad from the San Antonio show! Between the above, watching Space Shuttle Atlantis land at KSC and then ending the day with a big red full moon in total eclipse, I'd say it was quite a spacey day! |
