We all know about the X-Prize for the first to put people into space via suborbital flight. Does anyone out there know why there is no prize for the first private manned orbital launch?

There was, America's Space Prize as offered by Robert Bigelow.

The prize expired January 10, 2010, without a winner or any test flights attempted.

I was referring to the Ansari X Prize. I was just wondering why they didn't offer one for a crewed orbital mission.

The X Prize Foundation did conduct a study in 2005 to offer an orbital spacecraft prize and made their recommendations to NASA, as reported by SPACE.com.
A Human Orbital Vehicle (HOV) challenge would build upon NASA's Centennial Challenges program. Presently, however, that effort is limited in the size of prizes offered by the space agency, now no greater than $250,000...

The HOV Challenge, as identified in the X Prize Foundation study, would best be served if $100 million to $500 million could be offered by NASA.
