It's now 10+ years on from the last space shuttle servicing mission to Hubble (STS-125). How healthy is Hubble today?

Are the five main experiments still working okay or are some shut down or have mysteriously stopped work, having mechanical or software glitches? I know some are working but are they all working?

How are the solar panels doing. Have they degraded over all this time and are they only putting out a limited amount of power to the telescope to use?

Is Hubble getting hot? Is the insulation still in place, are pieces missing and is the telescope getting hot in the places it's missing from?

Are the gyros to position the telescope working? How many have stopped working, as NASA had trouble with this before?

I for one am amazed we are still getting images down from Hubble 10+ years after the servicing mission. I think NASA had Hubble down for a life limit of only 5 to 8 years after last servicing mission, but Hubble seems to still be going on strong.

NASA's Hubble page.

And the idea is for the James Webb Telescope to take over in 2021 for the Hubble with a much more sophisticated telescope. They will slowly let the remaining gyros stop working which has already started happening.

All times are CT (US)
