Okay, satellite experts: what video capabilities did Syncom 2 have? One Internet source says it relayed television transmissions from Lakehurst, N.J. to a ground station in Andover, Maine.

But another says Syncom 3 "had the addition of a wideband channel for television," suggesting Syncom 2 did not.

Can anyone clear this up?

I found the answer, thanks to NASA Technical Note (NASA TN D-2911), "Television Tests with the Syncom II Synchonous Communications Satelllite (July 1965):

During Syncom 2's first year, NASA conducted voice, teletype, and facsimile tests, as well as 110 public demonstrations to acquaint people with Syncom's capabilities and invite their feedback. It also relayed television transmissions from Ft. Dix, NJ to a ground station in Andover, Maine beginning on Sept. 29 1963, the first successsful transmission of television through a synchonous satellite. It was low-quality video with no audio.
