Russia's Progress MS-05 (66P) spacecraft lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Tuesday (Feb. 21) at 11:58 p.m. CST (0558 GMT; 11:58 a.m. local time on Feb. 22) on a two-day trip to the International Space Station.
It was the first launch of a Russian uncrewed cargo freighter since the Progress MS-04 supply craft was lost on Dec. 1, 2016. The liftoff also marked the last flight of the Soyuz-U version of the Russian rocket.
Loaded with 2.5 tons of food, fuel, and supplies for the Expedition 50 crew, the Progress is scheduled to arrive at the station's Pirs docking compartment on Friday (Feb. 24) at 2:34 a.m. CST (0834 GMT).
