AFP: Scrap unlucky 13th mission: Russian space chief
The next Russian spacecraft should be renamed to avoid the traditionally unlucky number 13, believes the head of Russia's space agency.

"In Russia, many people have superstitious beliefs -- black cats, Mondays, the number 13. That's why I think that it is a good idea to change the number of the next space ship," said Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian space agency Roskosmos, according to his press secretary Alexander Vorobyov on Monday.

Thats kind of interesting considering that Soyuz T-13 rescued Salyut 7 from a dead state, and Soyuz's 13 and TM-13 were successful.

With the movie "White Star of the Desert", I have heard the superstition that one time a crew walked out halfway through the movie and their mission was aborted halfway through. Was Soyuz 11 the reason for this superstition?

All times are CT (US)
