Editor's note: In an effort to keep the dedicated topic OV-103: Preparing Discovery for public display focused on status updates, reader's feedback and opinions have been moved to this thread.

Please use this topic to discuss Discovery's dismantling, forensic study and safing as NASA prepares to place it on public display.

First impression of these photos gives me the distinct feeling the poor ship is being gutted like a fish. However, it's exciting to know she'll be dressed up again down the road for all to see up close.

I think this is as sad as when the SR-71 was retired. I got my first look well it was the tip of her tail on her overland from Palmdale to Edwards back in 83. I hope I get to see one more landing at Edwards before this is over.

All times are CT (US)
