Nice. Do you have any idea who is responsible for these posters? They've done a marvelous job thusfar.

The posters are a product of the Spaceflight Awareness Office at Johnson Space Center. I'll be at JSC tomorrow, and if the opportunity presents itself, I'll inquire as to who specifically is responsible for their creation.

Two thumbs up on this creation.

How about a head shots of them photoshop on that background for their crew photo I would love to see.

Jorge, you can always download the high resolution file Robert offers in his initial message and have it printed in any size you want by your local photo shop.

It must have been amateur day with Photoshop, judging by that crew pic. Hopefully that is just a rough draft and the final version will look a bit more realistic.

A novel concept for future crew photos would be to take an actual photograph of a crew standing next to the shuttle.

These photoshop crew photos are starting to look very cheesy. I like STS-114 through to STS-123 (and STS-125), but the STS-124 photo and this one just look awful.

The whole concept of having the crew in a building on the crawlerway for STS-124 just looks really unrealistic, and this one has barely any shadow. I would prefer STS-126 to be like STS-114 and STS-116, it would look far better in my opinion.

Hi-res version out!!!!
STS126-S-002 (5 March 2008) --- Attired in training versions of their shuttle launch and entry suits, these seven astronauts take a break from training to pose for the STS-126 crew portrait. Astronaut Christopher J. Ferguson, commander, is at center; and astronaut Eric A. Boe, pilot, is third from the right. Remaining crewmembers, pictured from left to right, are astronauts Sandra H. Magnus, Stephen G. Bowen, Donald R. Pettit, Robert S. (Shane) Kimbrough and Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper, all mission specialists. Magnus is scheduled to join Expedition 18 as flight engineer after launching to the International Space Station on mission STS-126.

*sigh*

It's not the film grain or the clone stamp grass that ultimately gets me. It's the fact that the shuttle in the picture is clearly Discovery, with "Endeavour" pasted onto the wing. The artist went so far as to render the text, and cut out the parts obscured by the OMS pod and crew member. They did not, however, run the rendered text through the film grain filter, or change the name on the crew cabin.

Photoshopping a crew in Houston over a shuttle at Kennedy isn't the worst idea. It's just the little details that make all the difference.

Nice to see CDR Bowen's submariners dolphins on his LES! I also noticed that CAPT Stefanyshyn-Piper is now wearing Naval Flight Officer Astronaut wings vice her Master Diver badge. I was wondering what non-aviator astronauts wore once they flew a mission.

Wouldn't it have been a lot easier to just take a picture of Endeavour?

It seems the crew posters have gone from strength to strength over recent missions whilst the official crew pictures have gone downhill.

ShuttleDiscovery's description of 'cheesy' seems (IMO) to fit the bill.

Let's get back to a straight forward studio shot with the appropriate national and/or organisation flags. If there must be a 'photoshop' background then less obvious. Darker backgrounds work well and I agree with the comments that the STS-121 and STS-118 are good examples of this idea working.

All times are CT (US)
