Assuming things go to plan, come 2012 the Space Shuttle will have been retired and the ISS will be running with a crew of six. Soyuz vehicles are therefore the sole means of transporting personnel to the ISS. Assuming a ISS tour duration of 6 –months this equates to four flight a year. I believe NASA would be happier with 4 –months as the length of a tour (although I don’t have any sources for this) and this would equate to six flights a year. Given that the current rate is about two flights a year has there been any agreement on the number of flights or even that Russian can support this flight rate? Does anyone have any other info on how crews will be changed once the ISS supports 6 people?
