There are now 12 people in space.
6 on STS-115, 3 on Exp 13, 3 on Soyuz TMA-9.
Is this the most people in space at the same time?
Also there are Americans, a Canadian, a Russian, a German and an Iranian. 5 nationalities. Is this the most nationalities in space at the same time?

I don't think I can ever recall a time when there were this many people in space at one time..

No, the record is 13, most recently in late April 2001 when Tito's mission had just launched, STS-100 just undocked and Expedition 2 was onboard the ISS. It also happened once, actually I believe twice, aboard Mir.

There was a previous thread on this subject, too: 12 in space...

Also, as Ben mentions, the STS-100/TM-32/ISS 2 gathering at least tied for the number of the nationalities: American, Russian, Canadian, Italian and Kazakh.
