Due the approaching threat from Hurricane Ian, Kennedy Space Center is currently in a HURCON III status (48 hours prior to 50-knot sustained winds; primary actions include securing facilities, property and equipment, as well as briefing and deploying the ride-out team).

Ian made landfall in Cuba as a Category 3 hurricane on Tuesday (Sept. 27) and is expected to reach Florida's west coast by Wednesday night.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to Close Due to Threat of Severe Weather from Hurricane Ian

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 due to expected severe weather from Hurricane Ian.

The decision was made after reviewing the latest forecast of Hurricane Ian and to ensure the safety of visitor complex guests and crewmembers. During this closure, guests will not be permitted onto visitor complex grounds.

The safety of our guests and crewmembers is our top priority. As we continue to monitor Hurricane Ian, we will provide updates as needed.
