Astronaut ice cream — did it really fly? Vox's Phil Edwards investigates, with the help of the Smithsonian and an astronaut.
(For the record, I actually like, and have been known at times to crave, astronaut ice cream. So not everyone thinks it has to go, as this video suggests.)

I actually like the Space Dots they have at KSCVC!
In fact, Jerry Ross was asked about ice cream in space at the Astronaut Encounter I was at last week. He said they never used the "Astronaut Ice Cream" and did take the real stuff up on a Mir flight in a freezer to give to the crew. And they were nice enough to share it with the shuttle crew.
