Quite an interesting Kickstarter campaign under way called MOON — the most accurate lunar globe. The first topographically accurate lunar globe, displaying the current lunar phases at any given time. Sharp.
MOON is unlike traditional lunar globes that uses 2D photographs or illustrations of the Moon.
it is a truly accurate 1/20 million replica of the Moon featuring all the craters, elevation and ridges in accurate 3D.
it has a ring of LED lights that revolves around the globe, constantly illuminating the correct face of the moon and recreating the lunar phases as seen from Earth.

Very cool. But it looks like it's not painted to illustrate the darker colors of the mare vs. highlands. That would have made it a must-have.

This is an interesting project. I was going to make an accurate 60 cm diameter 3D moon model for myself but may wait until I can see this up close.

Very cool. Early 80s, I was involved with mapping up-close images accurately of the backside of the moon at the Lunar Planetary Lab. Am very much looking forward to this!
The "Sun" will give the desired look of shading to a smaller degree. What is the purpose if the quite accurate detailed moon is covered in too much shadow to see the wonderful craters, escarpments, etc.?
