Last night (Dec. 18), Comedy Central aired the final episode of The Colbert Report. Stephen Colbert is leaving the show to become the new host of CBS's "The Late Show," replacing David Letterman in 2015.The series' finale, after nine years, 10 seasons, and 1,447 episodes, came to its end with the help of scores of celebrities who crowded onto the stage for a rousing sendoff to the tune of "We'll Meet Again." The guest chorus included George Lucas, Patrick Stewart and Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Also in the crowd: former NASA astronaut and SpaceX engineer Garrett Reisman.  And Expedition 42 flight engineer Terry Virts was shown onboard the International Space Station, singing along while running on the C.O.L.B.E.R.T. treadmill.  NASA and space exploration was a frequent topic on The Colbert Report. Beyond just the show's campaign to get the space station's Node 3 named after its host (and ending up with the treadmill instead), Colbert also had astronauts on as guests, beginning with Reisman in 2008, who wore one of the show's "Wriststrong" wristbands on the space station.
