The operations foreman at a waste water treatment plant in Secaucus, New Jersey believes a piece of debris fell from the sky onto the facility on Wednesday. "It does look like a tile that comes from a space craft. It has no radioactive readings coming off it," Hudson Regional Health Commissioner Carlos Rodriguez said. The health commission has promised a full investigation, Brennan reported. The Federal Aviation Administration told 1010 WINS they have not received a report of debris falling from the sky in New Jersey. In an email to 1010 WINS, a NASA spokesperson said "it's extremely unlikely this object is related to the space shuttle" because "we have not flown the space shuttle since 2011, we had a highly accurate accounting of the tiles, and this does not appear to be a tile." Each tile received a unique number printed on it and they were much thicker, according to the statement. |

Call me old-fashioned, but I still get nervous when mysterious objects crash down from space on New Jersey during the month of October. I lost an uncle at Grover's Mill back in '38. |

Very funny Steve - sorry for your loss. Was your uncle reporting from the scene? |

My thoughts too. If it is from the X-37B, that could potentially explain why it's been up there so long... the return might be it's last. |

I'm pretty sure it is not from X-37B. Any tile launched with X-37B would remain in orbit for many more years than the vehicle has been in space. Things don't just plunge back to Earth once separated from their parent spacecraft. Also, the guy describes the impact as a "pretty loud bang." Tiles, even thick tiles (which this one, were it one, is not), are relatively light. If a tile of this thickness were to fall with enough force to make a loud noise, it would almost certainly break on impact, which this one did not. (And it is only coincidence, but Vandenberg Air Force Base just announced the preparations are underway for the spaceplane to return from space, though no date or time was provided. The last time they made such a statement, the X-37B landed 17 days later.) |

Yes, his last words were "Now the whole field's caught fire. The woods... the barns... the gas tanks of automobiles... it's spreading everywhere. It's coming this way. About twenty yards to my right-" |

Steve, my sister was there also. Her screams can be heard in the background.Seriously, there are several recycling facilities in the area. And New Jersey is not known for its calm winds. |
