Space program enthusiasts and collectors in this area, united through collectSPACE, have met up a few times in the last couple of years. We've attended events like National Air and Space Museum lectures together, and there have been a couple of meetings at members' homes so we can show items from their collections to an appreciative audience, have interesting discussions, and share our experiences.I thought it might be a good idea for any local members who might have any interest in any such future get-together to send me an e-mail so we can do some of our communication and coordination via that more direct method.
I already have the e-mail addresses of a bunch of members, but I've seen that several more people in this area have joined cS since our last meeting. And there are some long-time local members it would be nice to meet. So let me know if you would like to be on this useful list. It will not be overused, and we'll be careful about hitting "Reply All" only when necessary.
Please use "VA/DC/MD collectSPACE members" as the subject heading. Actually, even if we've already been in e-mail contact, please write to me again so I can be sure I am compiling a complete list.
One thing we'll be able to use this for is helping each other get into events. I was able to attend the Apollo 8 crew and Alan Bean talks because other members had an extra ticket, and I've helped out others. In fact, now that you've read this far, I'll say that I find myself with extra tickets for Thursday's Apollo 13 event. If you live in this area and would like to come, please mention that in the e-mail to me. On Monday, if I have more requests than tickets, I'll draw names from a hat- it's the only fair way I can think of.
