NBC News' Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert, who since 1991 had moderated Meet The Press, died today of a reported heart attack. He was 58.

In 2005, for the first time in the show's 50+ year history, Russert conducted a Meet The Press interview with astronauts in space, members of the STS-114 crew flying aboard Discovery. A transcript of that interview, and the in-studio discussion with NASA Administrator Michael Griffin that followed, can be found on NASA's website.

In addition to Eileen Collins, Charlie Camarda, Andy Thomas and Griffin, Russert also had as guests on Meet The Press former NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe, Senators John Glenn and Bill Nelson, and astronauts Rick Hauck and Buzz Aldrin.

Watching political reporting, or "Meet the Press" where he served as host the longest will not be the same.

My prayers go out to his wife and son, his colleagues at NBC and to quality journalists everywhere.

You will be missed Mr. Russert.

There was nobody else like him, and there will never again be anyone else like him. He was the best there was at it.

The country has lost a great American, and a wonderful all over person. Meet the Press will not be the same again, nor will election seasons.

It is really a very sad time for all of us who enjoyed watching his shows.

My prayers go out to his wife, son, and father, as well as his friends and co-workers at NBC.

Godspeed Tim Russert!

Tim came here to Notre Dame relatively frequently... but our schedules just never meshed that we could meet. I always wanted to call him and tell him that the next time he was in town, to call me and we'd meet for dinner... or lunch... like there would be no crowd waiting for him to do the same thing with and for him... "he who hesitates is lost", and one of my favorite quotes has never meant so much.

It is time to call all those "old" friends and get together... this time, maybe, just maybe, I will... God Bless all the Russerts!

As a lover of Rolling Rock, rock & roll, and the Boss, he had to be a great guy.
