Following a recent purchase I'm trying to find out what work U2 pilot Gary Powers was involved in post release circa 1962/63.

I know a lot of cS readers are aviation buffs - any info or forums/websites/books I should be looking at?

Cheers,
Matt

His son, Francis Gary Powers Jr., founded the Cold War Museum several years ago. He gives talks to local schools and other venues about his father. You could probably talk with him about that and museum administration. http://www.coldwar.org/

Matt,

Francis Gary Powers worked for Lockheed during from 1963 to 1970. He died in a helocopter crash while working as a traffic reporter in 1977.

Thanks Steve & Larry. I'm particularly interested in what specifically he did for Lockheed in that period; the only detail I have so far is that he continued to work on the U2 as a test pilot. I'll give his son a try.

Cheers,
Matt
