With sadness I just read in one of the groups about the passing of a fellow collector, dealer and friend - Karl Hass.I don't remember him being active on Cs but I'm sure many of us have dealt with him over the years on ebay : (I hope it's ok to copy the original posting) *** Karl Hass, 59, passed away Thursday, October 5th, at his home in Woodland Hills, CA after a prolonged, valiant fight with liver cancer. Hass, a well-respected eBay seller since 1998 (eBay ID: krhspace), was known for selling autographed space photos and covers, especially of early cosmonauts, astronauts and space flights. Hass's Item Descriptions usually included historical information and current catalog prices. Hass, an Army veteran, had served in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. After the service, he started working in a retail stamp shop in northern California, and he remained in stamp sales for much of his professional career. Hass also worked for Superior Auctions for nine years, where he described both stamps and space items. Most recently, he worked for Colonial Stamps, prior to becoming a full-time eBay seller. Hass was also an avid golfer. Per his wishes, he has been cremated. Hass is survived by his partner in life, Barbara, her children, Stacy, Julie and Michael, and grandson, Noah. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Hass, and sister, Nancy Hass. *** You'll be missed Karl !!! Florian |

This is indeed sad news. I, too, purchased many an item from Karl. He was always pleasant and a joy to work with -- and I was always thrilled to get a little extra something in the package (a space postcard or some other item). A huge loss. Like Noah, I regret not having gotten to know Karl better. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. Rich |

This is very sad news indeed.. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I'd bought a few items from Karl over the years (mainly early cosmonaut signed items and covers) and found him to be very helpful and friendly. The space autograph and cover collecting community has lost a good friend in Karl. Respectfully, Derek |

I never knew Karl, but Karl and I have two things in common. First we both enjoy the NASA space program and secondly we have both served in the elite 101st Airborne Division. Karl I thank you for your service to our great country and my condolences to your family. |
