This year, Mr. Domenic Abbate is my Technology teacher. I also had him last year. He told me stories of his work at Grumman. He was one of the main people behind the X-29 project. He did work with a shuttle mission as well. After research, I was able to pull up a picture of the STS-80 crew. He remembered thet this was the crew. He did work mainly with training them to use the robotic arm. During the summer, he has been digging out old pictures from those days. He brought the first batch in today. I scanned them in, and put them on my flash drive to bring home. He doesn't recall who is in the pictures, and it is pretty hard to tell. One is wearing the STS-7 patch on the EVA suit. Nobody from STS-7 was on STS-80. The other is of someone out of the EVA suit, on the robotic platform. Their head is turned, and it is hard to tell who it is. As for the man on the right of the second picture, that's Mr. Abbate.

He is still looking for more pictures and memorabilia to give me. I would appreciate any help with these pictures. Thanks, I'll probably have more to come.

(These are not NASA photo's they were taken at Grumman)

The first one looks like Thomas Jones. He and Tammy Jernigan were supposed to do EVA"s but a stuck hatch cancelled the EVA

Thank you for the ID's. I at first thought that this was Tom Jones, but he has the STS-7 patch. I guess they do that during training.
Brenda, where did you get a copy of the photo? Thanks for your help, and your good wishes. With support from people like you, I have a better shot of becoming an ASCAN.
