Someone had set up a Web site proposing a flag that would represent the idea of humanity extending into space. http://www.spaceflag.com/ Thoughts? ------------------ http://allthese worlds.hatbag.net/space.php "America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow." - Commander Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17 Mission, 11 December 1972 |

I understand the symbolism, but it looks an awful lot like and Amish symbol. Doesn't work for me. |

Any flag for this application doesnt seem appropriate..unless it can wave in the "solar wind", from a practicle perspective probably not an approriate medium to convey symbolism in the environment of Space...the planted U.S. flag looked great on the lunar surface but it required a not insignificant level of technical engineering to make it appear real.. ------------------ Scott Schneeweis URL: http://www.spaceaholic.com/apollo_artifacts.htm (Apollo Artifacts) http://www.spaceaholic.com/us_artifacts.htm (Other US Program Artifacts) |

Independent of the country they represent there are many elegant flags and some naff looking ones.IMHO this isn't an elegant one... |

Hi There- Just took a look at this- seems to me- its something the kids would like- its more [Like a KALEIDOSCOPE-image-something one twists around-to view the patterns- but hurts the eye-if you look too long. Cheers-see some of you in a month at heathrow. regards from Brenda. this was posted by november25 |

I don't know about a flag, per se, I'm enough of a geek that I like the idea of a symbol or logo to show support for spaceflight. That said, to me this flag really doesn't convey the idea it's supposed to. ------------------ http://allthese worlds.hatbag.net/space.php "America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow." - Commander Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17 Mission, 11 December 1972 |

As Brenda noted it reminded me of a kaleidoscope as well. When I look at this flag it in no way says or represents space to me as I think a "space" flag should. There is no common symbol on the flag (such as a planet or rocket ship) that anyone looking at it would remind them of space. |

I hate to agree, but unity of the human race is not one of my impressions[This message has been edited by Wehaveliftoff (edited September 02, 2005).] |
