I just wanted to share this...From the book, The Greatest Adventure...
Deke Slayton writes about his adventure in Apollo Soyuz
"I had the destinction of of being designated the world's first, and, so far, only docking module pilot, placing me in command of the apparatus some have dubbed the world's highest and fastest flying sewer pipe. I am happy to report it performed its functions almost flawlessly , up to and including its jettison with a full load of trash to perform a final orbital mechanics experiment. It was like seing an old friend depart since it served as my bedroom for 10 days and everybody's bathroom when we all gave in to that requirement after five days of stalling the inevitable. On my intial activation of and entry into the docking module, I almost passed out from some outgassing problem present in the atmosphere and retreated into the command module until we cleaned them up. I'm sure the 'outgassing' from that final load we jettisoned would have been fatal to anyone forced to breathe it.
