Fellow " collectSPACE-aholics",
I know this forum is not for personal
stories, per se, but bear with me and I
will make a space-related connection!
About a week and a half ago, on Friday,
Nov.15th, 2002, my daughter gave birth to my
very first grandchild- a healthy, handsome,
8lb.6oz. little baby boy!! Both mother and
baby are doing just fine and on this week
of Thanksgiving, I am very grateful for that
and many other things in my life!!
Perhaps in about 30 years or so, this
young man will set foot on Mars! If so and
if Grandpa is still around, all collectSPACE
members will get a free autograph!!
I told my wonderful wife (AKA Grandma)
that having a grandson now suddenly makes me
feel old and young at the same time!!
By the way, my daughter named the little
fellow Edwin! Guess what Grandpa is gonna
call him?....
Paul (AKA Grandpa)

Paul,

CONGRATULATIONS to a first time Grandpa from a recent first timer myself (twins!!). Its one of the most wonderful things in the world, and in your case possibly OUT of this world!

Please extend the best wishes from my family to yours and thanks for sharing!

Paul, congratulations on the birth of your grandson. My daughter will look forward to having him as part of her crew for the first manned mission to Mars.

Hey Everybody,
Thanks for the kind words concerning
my first grandchild and yes it is a great
feeling! I'm spoiling him already!
I don't think that he'll mind having a
female as the mission commander! Just look at
the great job Eileen Collins has done and I
see where Pam Melroy may command a shuttle
mission next year!
I told my wife not too long ago that I had a crush on one of the astronauts! You can imagine her surprise as she wondered if
I had a sudden change in my "lifestyle"! She
was slightly relieved when I told her that I
meant to say that I thought Pamela Melroy is
one cute little astronaut!! After all these
years, I guess I'm still a male chauvinist
pig!!
I can't put up any photos of little
Edwin right now (no scanner), but when I'm
able to later on, I will write "Buzz" on the
bottom of his little feet!!!
Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!!
Paul

Congrats on your first grandson!!!!
I knew my life had changed forever the first time my grandson held my finger, when he was about 10 minutes old.
Later, when he was older he looked up at the Moon and ask me " What is that?" I took the greatest pleasure telling him what it was and that man had been there, and his reply was " I want to go there, too."

Enjoy, my friend!!!
