In the book "For all Mankind" by Harry Hurt, Charlie Duke is quoted about the contents of his PPK... "I had some special jewelry that was designed for our flight that I carried to the moon for my wife, my mother, and my mother-in-law; some coins that were minted by a friend of the Apollo 16 mission patch emblem, two medallions of the air force, and an air force flag. I also had some miniature flags of the US and other countries, which were nice because they were so light you could carry about a hundred of them, and they only took up about an ounce of weight."
My question and I hope someone can help me out or point me in the direction to find an answer concerns the coins that were minted by a friend of the A16 emblem. The previous paragraph mentioned Robbins medallions so these coins were something different. Has anybody ever seen one of these?
I've still got this coin floating in Lucite here that is absolutely beautiful. The only coin I've ever seen that comes close in quality is a Robbins medallion. This one is of the A16 emblem on one side and a LM lifting off the moon on the other. Do I have a $5 coin... or a $500 coin? Ahhh!
