Just watched the ISS fly by, starting at 2021 PDT. For those on the west coast (southern Cal) it will make an extremely bright pass at 0423 Saturday, that is, if you don't have a cloudy morning like we usually do here in San Diego. The magnitude tomorrow a.m. will be -0.8 which is very good.Mike |

I got a few photos of it through my 8 inch Meade LX90 telescope. See here: http://www.geocities.com/tegwilym2/astrophotos/ISS_July28.jpg I still need a lot of practice with the tracking and focus, but I'll get some good details out of it eventually - I hope! Tom I can't access the first link to the photos.I captured these after the 111 scrub in June, from out my window here in NY: http://www.geocities.com/ovcolumbia/111ISS.html I have a telescope somewhere under a pile of dust, but I've never tried the through-the-scope method. Usually, 'photos' taken through scopes are video stills. http://www.bullhammer.com/satphotos.htm ------------------ ______ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ -Ben http://www.geocities.com/ovcolumbia/totaleclipse.html "'Time was invented to keep everything from happening at the same time. Tom = I am having the same problem opening up your image. Ben = WOW!! Great shots! When you have some time maybe we could chat off line. I need some pointers on nite shots. Here is my first attempt at capturing the ISS and the STS-111 Endeavor. http://www.luvaneva.com/OT-ISS.html Rud msimas@pacbell.net

Try cutting and pasting the web address into your browser rather then clicking on it. I've noticed sometimes the links in the forum don't work, but doing it manually usually works.Next time I try this I may try a slightly faster shutter speed and I'll try to focus. Tom |

I had better luck last night and tried the ISS again with the telescope and webcam. Much better results this time. (cut and past URL if clicking it fails) http://www.geocities.com/tegwilym2/astrophotos/Iss_July31.jpg Tom |

....another one from last night. I added a photograph of the ISS as kind of a comparison. I reall need to find one of those VRML models that I can rotate to the same angle to get a more accurate representation of what I'm looking at. It appears that I'm looking up from the bottom of the station at an angle toward the solar panel arrays. I'll get a larger image as soon as I get that tracking figured out better! http://www.geocities.com/tegwilym2/astrophotos/Iss_Aug2.jpg Tom |

Great luck with the telescope last night. You can clearly see the solar panels, the modules and the Soyuz (or Progress?) parked at the end of the station. http://www.geocities.com/tegwilym2/astrophotos/Iss_Aug8.jpg (Cut and paste into your browser if the link doesn't work) Tom |
