I had the pleasure of meeting Gene Cernan at the EAA show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin this weekend. On Friday he gave a talk that lasted a little over an hour on what it was like to be the last man on the moon. A very nice presentation. He did sign a few autographs after the talk, but was being rushed by the staff, apparently to another appointment. On Saturday he was signing copies of his book. At the book signing, in order to accomodate everyone, he was only signing his name. No inscriptions or other items were being accepted. At the end, he was about to be hurried away by the staff, however, right before he left, he did sign two other autographs, including one for me on my multi-signed earthrise photo!

Frank Borman was also at the show. Unfortunately, his talk on Friday was cancelled, so I didn't get to actually meet him. However, did get to see him fly as part of the special show held on Saturday. Hoot Gibson was also there and won the air race on Saturday.

In addition, I was able to meet, talk with and obtain personalized/inscribed books from about a dozen famous aviators and authors, including: Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson, the WWII Triple Ace who flew the P-51 Mustang "Old Crow"; Richard Bach, the author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull and many other books; and Howie Keefe, a former U.S. Navy Pilot and Air Racer - owner of the famed P-51 Mustang "Miss America".

What a wonderful weekend and great experience!

Bruce
