This is not a hoax! Has anyone any further details? There was a recent news article, on UK TV, which gave brief details about two British men, who intend to use the largest ever balloon to do go into space. Unfortunately I never got all the details. From what I heard, the mission will involve two British men, wearing Russian space suits, who will launch from Southwestern England next year. They will be seated in an 'open' gondala, exposed to the eliments, going to the edge of space. They then intend to reurn to Earth by man-parachute. I believe it was ITN news that carried the article, but I haven't found any other details of sources. Paul |

Here's a Wired News story about the pair's plans: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,48436,00.html If you notice, they won't exactly reach space -- their altitude target is 25 miles; space is generally considered 62 miles or above (the Air Force used to acknowledge flights to 50 miles, which still seems to be out of their reach). Still very cool though! |
