I came across a photo in Aviation Week and Space Technology of two shuttles ready on the pads at CC and I got to wondering how many times have two space shuttles (or more?) been in the ready position? I'm interested in getting a better picture of this (these) occurance(s). Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew G.

On a parallel thread, this mission has three crew members making their second visit to the ISS. I have not gone back through the crew lists to check so -- is this the first mission with crew members making a second visit, or has this happened in the past?

16!!?

I was figuring maybe half a dozen times, tops. Wow. Could you provide some of the missions so I can dig through the electronic photos at KSC website?

Thanks,
Andrew.

I dont know any off hand, sorry. I do know that 105/105 was the first time in a while...so start with 1998 and go backwards. I imagine also that many would have been in 1985, when they just kept launching. -Ben

The first time was in December 1985 when Challenger (STS-51L) was rolled out to 39B and Columbia (STS-61C) was on 39A.
