I'm trying to determine the date of the Apollo 14 crew pre-launch news conference. Any help would be appreciated.

Apollo 14 Crew Says Lunar Says Spacecraft Safest Ever - Space Trio Holds Pre-Flight News Conference - Sunday, Jan 10, 1971 - Charleston, SC - News and Courier
Space Center, Houston, Tex. (AP) The Apollo 14 astronauts said Saturday....
That would be Saturday, Jan 9, 1971 when the pre-flight news conference took place.

On Jan 11, they went into a 21-day isolation period prior to launch (Apollo Crew Enters Pre-Flight Medical Isolation - Monday, Jan 11, 1971 - Sarasota Journal).

Google newspaper archive has some problems. They ran OCR on newspaper microfilms and a lot of articles have scrambled names or run together with other article titles in the search catalog. Also, I've found many papers filed 20 years off because the OCR misread 1988 as 1968, etc, etc, etc. You just have to block out a narrow date range and search for one or two words, such as "Apollo" or "astronaut" or "NASA".

All times are CT (US)
