Working on the correct setup for a painting of Snoopy, as she is flying away from Charlie Brown, Earth and the Moon, On the fly away, I am looking for a photo or scan please of the Apollo 10's Trans-lunar plotting sheet so that I know the correct alignment of the Earth, Moon and Sun. I am also assuming from the top down perspective of the plotting sheet, she flew away counterclockwise, ahead of the Earth's orbit. Correct, or 180 out? Too bad NASA cannot track her, what a priceless last return load for a shuttle! But she will not be around for another seven years based on her roughly 11.5 year meeting cycle with earth, and one HECK of a high orbit needed. Thanks for any help! |

So does this answer an often asked question...Do we know where Snoopy is and can we predict the orbit? I always thought Snoopy was untrackable and might be "found" someday, like the Apollo 12 SIVB that turned up a few years ago. Great to know it's still out there. Ditto.Practicality of rendezvous aside, do we know where when it will need appear in near-Earth space? |

The freeware program Celestia includes an add-on which provides a simulation of Snoopy's current or projected location in heliocentric orbit based on assumed ephemeris (best guess after extensive research of NASA data). ------------------ Scott Schneeweis http://www.SPACEAHOLIC.com/ | |
