G'day everyone. I require a bit of help. I hate to bring up the hoax debate on this fine website, but one of the hoax proponents is claiming the color film mag was not made available in printed form until 1990.

I beg to differ and have so far found 73 of the 128 pictures taken were printed PRE 1971!! Could those of you who have a few moments to spare check your old newspapers, etc and give me a list of AS numbered pics available?

The Lunar and Planetary Institute has a page of thumbnails which I have used to cross reference. So far I have used Nat Geo Dec 1969, The Apollo 11 Preliminary Science Report, NY Times Supplement, Sydney Morning Herald, and a few other publications.

Any help will be most appreciated, and we can help kill a stupid notion to boot.

thanks
Dwight

Hi, I have a complete set of 5x5" prints from Apollo 11 magazine S that I received from NASA in the mid-80's. AS-11-40-5844 through AS11-40-5970. Dave

Hi Dwight!

On the other forum I mentioned the Petersen Manned Space series, circa 1976.

I'm sure one of the collectors here has the appropriate volumes and can help you with image IDs.

Dwight, how about the special issue of LIFE magazine, published in August 1969 (I believe)? That contained a lot of Apollo-11 lunar surface photos. Also the French equivalent Paris Match.

I appreciate your efforts, but do you think spending a lot of time finding the photo numbers will convince people who believe the moonlandings were faked?

Hi Ed, no unfortunately, I can't change someone who thinks it's all fake, but I can make sure facts are dealt with and not baseless allegations. I would like the fence-sitters, that is those unsure who also happen to read the debate, to see that suggestions NASA with-held photos is absolutely baseless. As for time-consuming, not really.

The side-effect is that in doing the debating, I force myself to research harder for the project I'm working on regarding TV/photographic cameras. So it benefits me (and hopefully the end reader)!

Thanks as well for the Paris Match tip. Foreign publications make the evidence all the more robust.

@Obviousman, I actually have the Petersen publications and they certainly have "uncommon" pics in them. Thank you nonetheless.

Also many thanks to everyone who has replied.
Dwight

Dwight, I understand.

Paris Match and also German publications like Bunte and Stern were the first after every Apollo mission to publish special sections with color photos. I also recall that Hasselblad published a booklet after Apollo-11 that contained a large number of lunar surface photographs, including quite a few that were not published anywhere else (because magazines usually published only the best).
