I am reading a man on the moon again and i just thought are there any photographs taken of the decent stages of lunar modules on the moon by passing probes or telescopes etc after the Apollo program ended

As far as telescopes are concerned I was given to understand that nothing of adequate resolution has yet orbited the moon since the Apollo SIM bay cameras !

There are video stills taken from the 3 LRV's that filmed the J-Series lunar liftoffs.

Look around on the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal and you should find them. There is also a nice animation of the Apollo 16 LM before and after stage separation which shows that the descent stage was pushed further into the lunar surface by the firing of the ascent engine.

Hope this helps........Adam
