The cover layer on the MOL suit on display at the Air Force Museum at Wright Paterson also has a blue cover layer. It appears that blue is color of the suit. http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/space_flight/sf2c.htm |

According to astronautix.com: quote: The suit shown is an MH-7 Training suit. The flight suits were to have helmets with outer sun visors and cover-garments featuring aluminized Mylar insulation with white outer fabric made of fiberglass impregnated with Teflon.

I know in 1991-1992 there was a MOL suit at JSC by the Apollo 17 CM and LTA-8. It was a full suit with helmet and gloves. It was a blue suit. I have a photo of it I just need to get it scanned |

This is Gene Cernan in an early Apollo suit (the caption for the photo in GRIN is "Apollo 205/208 backup LM pilot Gene Cernan ingressing CM-101 for a compartment fit & function test at NAA in Downey"...Apollo 205 being the canceled Apollo 2, the follow-on to Apollo 1). The actual "late" Apollo suit without thermal covering looked different (see Apollo 17 photo of Cernan's flight suit in GRIN 72H253) Puzzling that they would develop the "Apollo blue" suit so early and then abandon it; different contractor/manufacturer perhaps?
