There were about 6 months between Apollo 4/AS-501 and Apollo 6/AS-502. Was this interval planned (schedule) prior or were there other reasons?

A 1968 Apollo launch schedule published in Aviation Week & Space Technology in mid-November 1967 lists January of 1968 for Apollo 5, an unmanned test of the LM launched by a Saturn IB. Apollo 6 was listed next, but no month was given.

Considering the almost three month interval between Apollo 4 and 5, another three months between Apollo 5 and 6 is just about right and that would make it 6 months between Apollo 4 and 6.

All times are CT (US)
