A Saturn Instrumentation Unit, which has been in storage at the Smithsonian for many years, has now been moved to the Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport and is being prepped for exhibit. On its nameplate it reads serial number 031, IU # 514. Is this enough informaiton to suggest which mission it might have been intended for? I believe that the Apollo 17 Saturn was #512.

I believe Saturn V SA-514 would have launched Apollo 19, so the instrument unit #514 would have been on that rocket. Since IU 514 is with the Smithsonian, what IUs are on the Saturn Vs on display at JSC and KSC?

According to ApolloSaturn.com:

IU-513 was used for the Skylab 1 launch
IU-514 was for Apollo 19
IU-515 was for Apollo 20

IU-515 is installed on the JSC Saturn V per NASA paperwork and Smithsonian letters at the time of the initial loan.

All times are CT (US)
