Who was it???

Years ago, I read a motivational book that included a story about an astronaut who had made a written list of goals at a young age. That list included a crazy goal of "going to the moon."

I believe it also included Eagle Scout.

Can you help me remember which astronaut?
I also want to find his list.

Thanks for your help!

Not sure, but I'm thinking Roger Chaffee. When time permits let me recheck that. Does anyone else know for sure without me checking?

Ken,

I can't recall it being Roger Chaffee, at least in print. The closest he came was watching airplanes flying over his boyhood home and making a determination that he would do that one day - just like so many astronauts. John Glenn also said he had two goals in his youth - to fly, and to marry Annie Castor. He achieved both. This is a particularly hard question to answer, as nearly all of the astronauts expressed dreams of flying in their books, and the later ones all wanted to become an astronaut when they got older.

All times are CT (US)
