Author Topic:   Mercury 9 Recovery Force Ross Member Posts: 479 From: Australia Registered: Jul 2003 posted 10-29-2007 08:37 AM                I have been able to confirm from a second source that there was a DOD/NASA Recovery force in the Middle East for Mercury 9. The recovery forces (Task Force 109) were under the direction of Rear Admiral B.J. Semes and consisted of a seaplane tender and two destroyers supported by aircraft out of a number of ports, for contingency recovery operations. Does anyone know which two Destroyers were involved?
