Recently, I was searching for a 1978 portrait litho of Dan Brandenstein. My hope was to track one down and then hopefully get it signed by him.For whatever reason, I have always loved the 1978 class original portraits, in the all blue flight suit with the all white shuttle model. In my head, they are almost the shuttle equivalent to the Apollo WSS photos. Maybe that makes me weird, but that's how I feel. Anyway, recently I would find that photo for sale on eBay, except it's not a litho. It's a red numbered glossy. I liked so I submitted a best offer and got it for about $10 shipped. I don't know if it's worth that but I liked it so I got it. I know some of the older red numbered glossies are really popular among photograph collectors and it would be a sin to "ruin" such a photo by having it signed. I'm not a photograph collector and my intention is to have this photo signed. But, I wanted to make sure that this piece isn't something special before I did. I know I didn't pay much for it which tells me it's not special, but again I know some of these photos can be so I wanted to check first. Personally, I think it would make a really neat signed piece.

It is no sin to get this signed. Shuttle red numbered portraits are not very valuable for money purposes, but they are great for people that enjoy them. $10 is cheap if it is something you like and makes you happy. Enjoy it and by all means get it signed if that is what you want. |

Wow, red only $10, shipped?! It is not like it's a rookie sports card, enjoy getting it signed. |

Any extra "value," if there is any, would be detracted by the fact it's not pristine, that there's stuff attached to the back. Go get it signed. |

Having it signed would compliment the piece nicely. It may increase the value to some, decrease it for others but do what makes you happy. I get the impression you won't be looking to sell this on anyway. 😀 |

Thanks for all the input everyone. I simply wanted to make sure the photo wasn't anything too special, and I appreciate all the help. I will see if I can get it signed by him. That's the way I will enjoy it the most and you are correct that I'm not looking to sell it anyway. |
