Farthest Reaches has Apollo 15 flown flags from Al Worden's personal collection. Some of these international flown flags are listed on eBay.

Today a Guinea flag was auctioned by Heritage Auctions from Worden and another Guinea flag from his collection is currently available on eBay. How many flags are out there from Apollo 15?

Besides Farthest Reaches, they have been sold at Heritage Auctions and a large quantity by Nate D Sanders auctions on eBay and Sanders' auction.

I wonder how many Apollo 15 flags were there?

I had assumed that the flags listed by Nate D Sanders were the unsold examples left over from those previously offered through Farthest Reaches.

The fact that the Nate D Sanders eBay listings did not include the flags of those countries most likely to be the home of keen space collectors (e.g. the UK, Australia, and most European countries) seems to fit with this.

However, the fact that there are two Guinea flags is interesting. This could either indicate that Worden carried two complete flag kits (including all countries) or it could just be an exception - that for some reason he ended up with multiple examples of certain flags.

When it comes to US state flags individual astronauts certainly carried multiple examples of certain states important to them - e.g. their birth state or their state of residence - often in quite large numbers.

It could also be that it was more than one 'Guinea' as there is of course Guinea, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau (which at the time of the flight will still have been Portuguese Guinea).

Remember Jim Irwin's High Flight Foundation has hundreds of flown country flags. I didn't know until a few years ago that Al Worden had this many as well, but how about Dave Scott?
