eBay Item Number: 281061144784. This looks like a modern replica to me although not listed as such. |

Mike - gotta agree with you. Definitely a replica. If you compare it to Chris' page at crewpatches.com here you'll see that not only is the blue background twill not the right color, but the stitching in the LM isn't quite right either. It's too flat. The originals had stitching that was built up and better detailed. And on further checking, it's a 4" patch. The originals were 3.25". So yes, definitely a replica. A decent one, but it's NOT an original. |

The "n" in Grumman is off. Looks like "Grummer". Bummer. Dead giveway. |

I see the seller has amended his listing to take into account the 'modern' nature of this patch. Well done that man. |

That's correct Mike and thanks for your first post that started this conversation. After I posted my previous comment, I also sent an email to the seller telling him the nature of the patch, that it obviously was not an original. We had a couple emails go back and forth and with nothing more from me, he pulled and relisted it with the updated description. He then sent me another email asking if I would post here his change. I really don't believe he was trying to scam anyone into believing it was an original. He simply didn't know the difference. Nor do I think he was expecting the comments that would get posted here by those of us that may know. So to his credit, he has corrected the listing making it clear it is a replica, not an original.

Thanks for bird-dogging this with the seller. For what it's worth, I wasn't implying that he was scamming, just that it wasn't an original. | |
