I have been seeing a lot of expensive John Glenn signatures lately. This is just one example.

Why do people charge so much? He has always been a "gracious signer" at no charge through the mail.

My guess: People may not know he signs for free through the mail; people may not want to wait to get a John Glenn signature through the mail.

I dont understand the price for recent signatures, but I think the vintage JH GLenn JR would be worth alot more?

You are likely correct. I do not see recent items signed in that manner. All the items I have, either through the mail or in person, have just been John Glenn. I do have some of the "older" style signatures, all on older items.

Well, it goes without saying that if John Glenn had decided to be other than extremely generous with his signature, a John Glenn autograph would be worth a small fortune right now. He doesn't need my praise, but the man is a true hero in every sense of the word. Thank you, John Glenn.

I wouldn't take that eBay auction as an indicator of what his signature is worth on the marketplace. There are always a number of dealers and eBay sellers who overprice their items in an attempt to lure a less knowledgable collector into paying those inflated prices.

Move the decimal point one digit to the left and you have a more realistic estimate on what it's worth.

All times are CT (US)
