I have Alan Bean's "In the Beginning" and was wondering if anyone had thoughts/opinions on adding Gene Cernan's signature vs. leaving the piece alone.I recently acquired a Jim Irwin uninscribed NASA Litho on Moon signed by him. I mentioned getting the rest of crew to sign to a fellow trusted collector. The response: "Leave it as is. Sometimes less is more" That got me thinking. A dangerous thing. Not re-selling, that Alan Bean litho is going nowhere but my wall. |

Mike, I've had pieces that were multi-signed and other collectors told me to leave them alone because they were vintage and original. However, your litho is a piece that lends itself to adding autographs, much like the Moonwalkers print that Novaspace sells. The question you'll have to figure out is, is it worth the cost to add autographs? Most astronauts charge much more to autograph multi-signed pieces, especially crew completions and 3D items. So depending on the event, Cernan might be charging his base of $150-175, then doubling it to sign your piece. |

I think it would be pretty cool to add it. Only problem will be the series of panic moments I will have taking the litho out of the frame and transporting to/from ASF AAMS. Now I'm eyeballing the space next to Frank Borman's signature on Apollo 8, James Lovell's would look nice, even though he already signed on the Apollo 13 spot... | |
