I have a two letters related to Neil Armstrong after his moon walk. - Personal letter on NASA letterhead typed and personally signed by Neil Armstrong.
- Personal letter from Neil Armstrong's mother relating to the same topic in the letter mentioned in item one(1) above.
Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get these documents appraised? Anyone want to guess at value? |

The content and condition of the letters will be key towards determining value (assuming, of course, the signatures are authentic). The Neil Armstrong letter could be very valuable if the content is space-related...and even more so if it talks about a key aspect of the Apollo 11 mission. |

Thanks. None of that, however. The letter with the Armstrong signature is a personal letter to Mrs. Alba Hicks Pratt - the lady sculptress who sculpted the bust titled "Man on the Moon" for Armstrong and the Museum - expressing his appreciation for the artwork. The letter from Armstrong's mother to Alba Hicks Pratt expresses the same sentiment. By the way, I have a photograph of Mrs. Alba Hicks Pratt with the full size bust AND she is holding one of the maquettes of the bust in her hand. An unknown number of the maquettes were made, but not that many. They were not mass manufactured. I have reason to believe she made them all herself. So there is the connection for those wishing to connect their maquette with the actual artist. I would like to post the picture but don't know how. |

A 1962 signed letter on NASA headed paper recently realised $2900 at auction (April 2009). |

On PBS's Antiques Roadshow last night, they showed a typed letter of Neil Armstrong signed 'Neil' for $1000 estimate, and a "First On The Moon" book signed by all three Apollo 11 astronauts estimated at $5000. |

Yes, the signed letter that eventually sold for $2900 had an estimate of $1000 to 1500. However, it was his full signature. |

I think that appraisal was pretty much on-the-money for both the book and the letter. |

Clean, uninscribed Apollo 11 crew signed copies of that book have been going for around $7,000. |
