I just purchased a Stuart Roosa signed cover. It is unpersonalized and bears the "CAPT. USAF" inscription below his signature. I know he is kind of difficult to obtain and was wondering what an average price range on an item like this would be. Thanks and please post away!

I got a Stu Roosa cover last year for $61, about as close as you can get to the price you paid.

As the saying goes, if you're happy with what you got and what you paid, then you got a good deal. I'm not kicking myself that you got your Roosa $4 cheaper than I did!

While it's true that one can find Stuart Roosa signed items for around $60 (as proven by the postings above) it's also true that the price depends on what he signed (and this is true about any astronaut). A signed item not related to the astronaut's mission in general sells for less than an item related to their mission, as does it's condition, the image, the type of item signed (photo, cover, beta cloth, flown, etc.) Unaddressed, mint condition Apollo 14 covers have sold for $125-$150, and covers with an Apollo 14 full color crew emblem have sold for more. So, IMHO, you shouldn't use the above two examples to conclude that the 'average' price for a Stuart Roosa signature is approximately $60.

He didn't ask for the average price any Roosa signature, but asked for the average price of a Roosa signature on an item like the one he bought. There is a big difference!

Yes, I was wondering about a simple cover price. I have seen WSS photos go in the $100s, so I tried to look for an 'inexpensive' item. In this case, a cover not officially related to the mission was the inexpensive choice.

It seems that I paid a good price though for this particular item. As for a Roosa item overall, it seems this is a good price as well.

Thanks guys for all the info

I understand that Rodrigo was asking about the average price for an item like the one he bought, but I was simply pointing out to other collectors that there are many variables that affect the price of an autograph, such as what item is signed, and that the prices listed above are not the "average".

Style of a signature can also affect price. Fortunately, I have only seen one example of Stu's signature. It doesn't appear to vary much over the years.
