Topic: Differences between posters and art prints?

I want to buy a few HST posters and I'm wondering about the difference between the posters shown here and the "art print" shown here.Does anyone know if these are actually different prints and if so, is there a definite advantage in the art prints? Thanks. |

Like it says, posters are usually on a thinner, glossy paper, and mass produced. Art prints have more attention paid to paper, reproduction, and general quality. Art prints are usually smaller, limited edition, and signed and/or numbered. Art prints generally cost more, and are meant to be framed. That being said, there are no "art police" enforcing the rules, and the differences are often blurred as is the case here. I'd define both of these as posters, since there is no artist, just a designer. Kim Poor, Novaspace Gallery

"Poster" makes me think of black lights and blue sticky stuff to hold the poster to a dorm room wall. "Art print" means you at least have to frame it! |

Hmm. I guess that's why I never framed my Star Trek or Fonzie blacklight felt posters!
