Ebay item 150273365842 may be slipping under the radar. One day and eleven hours left. There is no mention in the title of it being flown or in the description. I used a magnifying glass to read the typed inscription. A couple of days ago They printed the fact that it was flown when someone asked them what the inscription said. It looks like an early presentation and has browned glue spots. What do you think? They also have another one of the Apollo 11 crew signed items with autopenned signatures on matting. I looked on edgeofdarkness and found all of the styles used and informed them with no response after letting them know it is autopenned. They also have a pricey inscribed Buzz that looks o.k. These are part of an uncle Bills estate that was a photographer for N.A.S.A.Terry |

This went for over $2500.I wonder how anyone could be so sure it was genuine-the A11 sigs that the seller was also selling were autopens, and the provenance for the presentation appeared to be just an old typewritten note in the presentation itself. Even if the flag looked identical to the ones really flown, the presentation could have been made up, like the replica A17 moon dust globe recently discussed. |

I think this is genuine because you have the Apollo 15 "silver thread" crew patch. As seen on Chris' website, this is an extremely rare patch only given to the crew, NASA officials and dignitaries(as displays like this one). There is a similar lithograph on eBay now that also strengthens the authenticity of this piece. BTW, in addition to the Apollo 11 autopen display, they did sell a genuine Aldrin display. Andrew |

That Apollo 15 flag is 100% genuine. I had an exact one for Apollo 16 but it was in horrible shape. The only things still in tact were the signatures and the actual flag. I decided to remove the flag and make my own presentation and the signatures were cut from the board and mounted to another presentation. I know that probably killed the value of the piece, but hey, I know it's flown and I won't be selling it! -R |

I believe it would have been fairly easy to track provenance on this one as the sellers were very nice and polite. I told them about the autopens and offered some advice and they did alright. They were happy and that is what counts. Although they did not want to relist it with flown included in the title. I thought it might topple the 4k mark had they have done so. In the meantime keep an open eye for their auctions they have many more goodies they will be listing in the near future.Terry |
