Anyone know what exactly this is? eBay auction: 160615775256
This cable was developed for the Apollo Moon Program in the 1960's. We have in our possession the only 5000 ft left on earth, literately. The only other supply is on the moon and this may be cost prohibitive to retrieve.
This cable was originally manufactured by Cerro a subsidiary of Rockbestos Surprenant Cable Corporation for Grumman for NASA. It was made for use on the Lunar Explorer Module. This is the cable that was used to transmit the television signals of the moon landing back to earth.
Being sold by the foot.

I asked the late Stan Lebar, project manager for the lunar TV camera Westinghouse and he was adamant it was _not_ the cable, or anything remotely resembling a cable used for the WEC TV camera. The biggest giveaway was that the WEC cable was white, and that there were no leftovers. Save your money. The sellers have been listing this item for years now.

Mike, this coaxial cable (with an outer Kapton layer) was one of a series developed by the Rockbestos-Surprenant Cable Corp. in 1966 and sold to Grumman for routing video in the LM's communications system, but as Stan Lebar said, it was not used to connect to the TV camera itself.
In an October 1969 company newsletter, the firm (and the eBay seller) says it was used to "transmit" TV signals from the LM during Apollo 11; but neither mentions the camera.
This company also developed a different cable used on Apollo 12 and subsequent missions to deliver power from the SNAP-27 nuclear power source to the ALSEP central data collection system.
