How can I get photos printed on archival paper like Fuji's Crystal Archive (or something better I don't know about)? I've got some digital images I would like to get signed or just put on display. Where can I upload them to have them professionally printed on paper that will last? This seems like something I should have been able to find myself, but all I can find is Shutterfly. They might be fine, but I'd like to know about other options. Thanks, Steve |

In the UK Photobox use Fuji Crystal Archive paper and you can choose matt or glass, not sure if they ship to the US but it's worth a look.Personally I use them all the time, I can't fault their service or quality. Adam |

I'll second that Steve what Adam said. Here in the UK they take 2 days to arrive, I haven't been disappointed yet with there service.Ian |

I'll third what Adam and Ian have said above. If there is ever a problem with your order they always put it right... and double quick too. You should go in via photobox.com.... that way you won't get stiffed for international shipping. |

Steve, Here in the States, I'd suggest MPIX.com. They have good prices, great service (used by many professionals), and have several 100-year archival papers, including Kodak Endura E-Surface. Good luck. Dave |

I also agree MPIX is good if you live in the USA. Their service is good, prices are great, and they offer some of the best packaging to protect the photos during shipment (which is a big reason I use them). If you seek only Fuji paper, then Shutterfly is a good option. I like their prints and the colors turn out very well. The only thing I fault them for is flimsy shipping materials (for 8x10 prints, at least) which have resulted in numerous damaged orders. They are good about replacing damaged prints, but sometimes even the replacements get damaged too. |

I wanted to thank the members who suggested mpix.com, and pass on my recommendation if you are ever thinking of getting photos printed for signing or display. To get signed at Spacefest, I ordered prints about two feet wide of an Apollo 9 photo and the photo from Apollo 11 taken by Collins of the LM ascending towards him. They are on archival paper, of fantastic quality, and were shipped next-day mail at a reasonable rate. (Usually they ship flat-rate Priority Mail, so for about $5 you get your photos in a day or two.) Last month, I ordered about 15 prints of different sizes in the morning, and they shipped by that afternoon. Oh, and when they arrived, the prints of each size were in their own little envelope, which helped keep them from getting jumbled. Let's put it this way: I received excellent prints on archival paper shipped to me in one day- for less than what Walmart charges for okay prints in a longer time! If you get on their e-mailing list, you can find out about sales they have every couple of weeks. The day I woke up intending to order those poster-sized prints, I found in my inbox an e-mail advertising 25% off large prints. I saved about $20! Steve P.S. You can see a photo, if you wish, of me holding the Apollo 9 print at the bottom of the Signing Experience: Rusty Schweickart thread in the Autographs forum. | |
